1)India is urbanising rapidly.Lifestyles of the citizens are changing with the rising prosperity.Consumerism is at its best when it comes to disply ,rather flaunt it. People are spending more on consumer and luxury goods but are not ready to share the bursden of water which is transported to the cities from the sources which are far flung and remote. They are ready to spend on packaged water but not ready to pay for clean and safe drinking water. After nearly seventy years we could not take water to allthose resing in the villages.Gandhiji used to say India lives in the villages but reality seems to be different .The urban In dia with its crumbling infrastructure is projecting the failures of successive Governments in a clear manner.water has a value of a nectar now. There is silver lining but the future picture will be dark, if do not get our act together and think outof box to migrating population from villages to cities. Data Journalism will be used to write this report.

2) Water springs used to be an ideal spots for recreation and sources of water for the people in  the coun try. Many writers describ ed these springs in their weiting in avery romantic and nostalgic manner. But the young generation is deprived of this natural pleasure.Who is  responsible for this situtaion? Certainly they are not.We and our immediate  predecesors are the culprit. This heritage was handed over to us by our fore-fathers and were taught to value them. But we falterd it away.We werte not wise enough. We are living in this post -modern society which is termed as knowledge society. There are a few springs still left inours disappering jungles and the sorroungins of our

villages.Chandwad in the Nashik district of Maharashtra has Step well constructed by Ahlyabai Holkar which still supplies the water to the town.Such speings should be preserv ed by us for our next generation as they have all the right to live sustainably. We have all the knolwledge but we hve to get some wisdom. This seems to be costly but not rare.Case studies of successs stories and the analysis of data ,some field visits and work done earlier by this writer will be used to erite the report.
