DKD project area is located in the Mid – Himalayan Garhwal Region. It is a watershed development project for Chandarabadani (Takoli Gad) Micro – Watershed and adjoining villages. Watershed of Takoli Gad is a micro watershed which falls under catchment of Alaknanda River. The watershed falls under 300 17’ to 300 21’ N latitude and 780 37’ to 780 43’ E longitudes.The activities lie on both sides of Takoli Gad (A major rivulet of Chandrabadani Micro Watershed).The Micro Watershed and the adjoining area villages constitute a total of 34 Villages having a population of 8469 with 1762 house holds. The total female population is 4543 and male population is 3926. There are 289 families under Below Poverty Line (BPL), it accounts for 38% of total households.The annual rainfall is 1968.1 mm and average minimum and maximum temperature are 8.7 degree and 37.8 degree centigrade respectively.
