एक विधि जिसके अंतगत सरिता में किसी अनुभाग पर कुल प्रवाह का आमापन किया जाता है( इसमें सरिता के अनुप्रस्थ काट के क्षेत्रफल का मापन कर एवं प्रवाह वेग मापी जैसे यंत्र का उपयोग कर प्रवाह के वेग की गणना की जाती है। किसी स्थान वहां के क्षेत्रफल तथा वेग की गुणा से कुल निस्सरण की गणना की जा सकती है।
