कूप/ WELL

भौमजल को सतह तक लाने हेतु पृथ्वी में उर्ध्वाधर छिद्र की खुदाई कर कूप का निर्माण किया जाता है। कभी-कभी कूप अन्य उद्देश्यों जैसे उप-सतह अन्वेषण एवं प्रेक्षण, कृत्रिम पुन: पूरण तथा अपशिष्ट जल का विसर्जन आदि कार्यों में भी सहायक होते है।

Water well is a hole or shaft, usually vertical, excavated in earth for bringing groundwater to the earth. Occasionally, wells serve other purposes such as subsurface exploration and observation, artificial recharge and disposal of waste waters.
