जल विज्ञान
भू-पृष्ठ के ऊपर की जलराशियों या उसके भीतर प्रवाहित होने वाले जल से संबंधित विज्ञान।
- वह विज्ञान जिसके अंतर्गत विशेष तौर पर सरिताओं, झीलों, कुओं आदि तथा बर्फ के रूप में पाए जाने वाले जल का अध्ययन किया जाता है। इसमें उसकी खोज, उपयोग, नियंत्रण एवं संरक्षण का भी अध्ययन किया जाता है।

The applied science concerned with the waters of the earth in all possible states, occur-rence, distribution, and circulation through the unending cycle of precipitation, runoff, streamflow, infiltration, storage, evaporation, and reprecipitation. Hydrology is concerned with the physical, chemical, and physiological reactions of water with the earth and life thereon.
